In Kangasala’s automobile museums you can discover Finnish motoring history, from early road development to classic cars and rally culture. Together The Finnish Museum of Car and Road Mobilia and Vehoniemi Automobile Museum offer a diverse range of experiences, blending informative exhibitions with activities for the whole family and hosting a variety of events throughout the summer.

Mobilia — The Finnish Museum of Car and Road

Mobilia is Finland’s national museum for road and motor transport, that offers things to see and do all year round for all ages. In Mobilia you can find permanent and annually changing exhibitions as well as museum shop and restaurant. 

Mobilia’s permanent exhibitions include Rally Museum, Road Stories and Mobilia Classics exhibitions and the outdoor exhibition Stories from Redeployment Worksites. In summer 2026, Mobilia’s temporaryexhibitions include Back to the ’90s and exhibitions on Japanese cars and motorcycle culture.

During the summer, in the traffic park children can learn about safe and responsible behaviour on the roads, and they can also try operating a hydraulic mini digger. The museum area offers activities beyond just cars, with a beach and playground right next to the building.

The museum is easily accessible by bus, bike, or car.

Vehoniemi Automobile Museum 

Vehoniemi Automobile Museum displays beautifully restored vintage cars and motorcycles from different decades, giving visitors a glimpse into Finland’s motoring history. The exhibition is free of charge, with regularly updated displays and vehicles rotating throughout the summer season

Located on the Vehoniemi Ridge, the museum combines classic car history with stunning nature. Visitors can also climb the historic observation tower, built in 1927, for panoramic views over Lake Roine and Lake Längelmävesi. 

The museum’s café is known for its homemade pastries, including traditional doughnuts baked to Aunt Niininen’s 1920s recipe and their famous white chocolate cake. The museum also offers ice cream made by its own nearby factory, with a range of classic and unique flavors available at the café. Visitors can also browse a charming on-site toy shop for unique car-themed souvenirs and collectibles, such as model cars and Kangasala-themed porcelain.

The FIVA World Event “Two Lakes” Comes to Tampere and Kangasala

In summer 2026, the international FIVA World Event brings historic vehicle fans to Tampere and the surrounding lake district. As part of the programme, the rally route passes through Kangasala, including visits to both Vehoniemi Automobile Museum and Mobilia. 

The event is a rare opportunity to see a wide range of historic vehicles from across Europe, during which the centre of Tampere will also be hosting an exhibition. Kangasala’s automobile museums are included as part of the event programme.
